Collections care and consultation

The Center's staff provides consultation on the proper exhibition, storage and handling of art objects; organizes and presents educational programs; and produces and distributes technical leaflets on all aspects of collections care including preservation through preventive conservation methods. An on-line library of technical bulletins supplying in-depth answers for common collections issues is available, as are a number of useful links to outside resources.

Disaster response and emergency preparedness assistance are also available.

Appraisals

Art appraisal is an altogether separate professional activity from conservation. WACC conservators are not in a position to offer this service; we suggest that you contact an expert in a field related to your object. Often, the curatorial department of your local art museum or historical society can refer you to an appropriate specialist. The following organizations also offer advice and referrals:

Appraisers Association of America

American Society of Appraisers

Christie's

Sotheby's
